Plans for Swadlincote's First Literary Festival Unveiled!

Coinciding with the 2024 World Book Day next March will be a four day literary festival in Swadlincote with an exciting programme of events that will promote the joy of books, words and reading by offering a wider range of events to engage people of all ages.

Taking place from Thursday 7th March to Sunday 10th March, the Swadlincote Festival of Words will include author visits, writing workshops, children's storytimes, book swaps and sales, book character window dressing competition, book trail, performances and so much more.

The event is being organised by a team of local volunteers including SwadStyle's Editor, Ingrid van der Weide, Local Poet, Attie Lime, Swadlincote Library's Assistant in Charge, Amanda Hill and a number of interested individuals.

There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in this event for local authors, writers, poets, illustrators, performers, crafters, stall holders, schools, and willing volunteers who would like to be involved in this event in some way.

The event will also be looking for funding and sponsorship opportunities to keep this event accessible for as many people as possible so please do keep this in mind if you can help with funds in anyway..
